Arcata, CA

Wildflower- There aren’t a ton of options in Arcata and Wildflower is a solid vegan restaurant and a short walk from the venue, Arcata Theater. I usually eat at the local Co-op, when traveling through Arcata but this time we wanted more of a sit down vibe before the show. It's very laid back and when we went around 8:30pm on a Friday night there were a few other tables filled with college students but it was surprisingly mellow/empty in there. I went with the ‘Dragon Bowl’ a steamed veggie with soba noodles dish. It was simple and good, I put some sesame seeds in it, which gave it a nice texture and added some hot sauce. The prices are affordable and servers were friendly and they do have organic veggies! Nothing fantastic about this place but a good look for a casual healthy dinner when in Arcata.

Grass Valley, CA

Briar Patch Co-Op- Grass Valley has a great Co-op here. There aren’t too many options in this town. We stopped here for breakfast/some juices. The juice bar has great options and is pretty reasonably priced. They had a full salad bar, soups and a small but good prepared food section. I had a great workout and run in the AM, so I got a post workout green smoothie with hemp protein. I also got some good salads for the drive. There was this guy playing banjo and singing old timey music out front, loved that!

Santa Barbara, CA

Solid gourmet deli in Santa Barbara, right down the street from Soho music Hall where we played in Santa Barbara. I love that they list their organic items on the board right where you walk in. They have a salad bar with great specialty items like sun dried tomatoes, hearts of palm, roasted garlic, different nuts/seeds as well as the usual veggies and greens and Braggs organic dressings. It is $10.95 a pound, which is pretty steep considering the salad bar is not totally organic. The case has some great prepared dishes as well. I got the forbidden rice salad, which was organic black rice with sweet potato and some other veggies, which was great! The ambiance is nice with a small fountain in the center of the dining room. Overall, Savoy Cafe is a good, casual healthy food stop in Santa Barbara. Glad I found it.

San Diego, CA

Cafe Gratitude- I've been to a bunch of Cafe Gratitude's and IMO this one is the best quality. It is a few dollars more than others but worth it. The interior pretty is swanky as well. It is right down the street from the venue, that we played at, which made it an easy pre-show dinner choice. I had the 'I am Humble' bowl, which was so good. It had Curried lentil dal, spinach, roasted yams, coconut chutney, spicy tomato jam, scallions, sprouted probiotic rice. This dish is a winner! My buddy had the 'I am accepting' which also got great reviews. Overall, Cafe Gratitude is a great option for healthy eats in downtown/Gaslamp San Diego.

Flagstaff, AZ

Red Curry Vegan Kitchen- Yes! Great dinner in Flagstaff. Red Curry Vegan Kitchen has good veggie options at very affordable prices. I got the lemongrass green curry, which came with brown rice, spring roll and small salad for under $10. That is winning! The curry came with black beans as alternative to tofu (love that!). The ambiance left a little to be desired, it was very bright and the place was a bit messy. But I'll take it given the prices and great quality dishes! Definitely a good find.

Phoenix, AZ

Green Vegetarian- I love this spot in Phoenix. I loved it the 1st time and then without even realizing it, I ended up here a second time! The combo of great food, casual atmosphere and affordable prices make this place a total winner. Both times I’ve been here I have opted for the ‘Bowls’ which offer different preparations/sauces of a sautéed vegetables with brown rice (or noodles) I have gotten the Kung Pao and the Diablo and both were awesome. Simply prepared fresh veggies with good amount of heat make this a great healthy option. They have a bunch of different Veggie burgers and salads as well, which got rave reviews. Not to be missed if looking for healthy lunch or dinner in Phoenix.

Crested Butte, CO

Ginger Cafe- Crested Butte comes through for us with a great spot for dinner! It's an upscale Thai spot that has some Indian and others flavors a mixed in. Our dishes and appetizers were super tasty and spiced well.
The menu doesn't have tons of vegan options but they were very accommodating and made me this awesome spicy vegi dish Kadai (see photo) that was on point! They use local ingredients, which is a plus for me. It is a bit on the pricy side, but Ginger has a nice vibe and ambiance, so what do you expect in this fancy ski town? It's still affordable and great quality. Totally recommend it!

Mt Tamarack, ID

Mt Tamarack- We played a cool festival up in Northern Idaho at Mt Tamarack. If you find yourself in this area, there is amazing trail from the base (where the main stage is) all the way up to the summit, which is around 8,000 ft elevation- about 3,000 ft elevation climb from the base) I ran the entire trail up and down, which was about 15 miles round trip. It was a great morning workout and a beautiful run. I recommend starting fairly early in the morning as it was nice and cool and as a plus, I hardly saw anyone the whole way up.

San Francisco, CA

Ananda Fuara- There are so many great healthy and vegetarian restaurants in SF. Ananda Fuara is one of the best and is not to be missed if you are looking for healthy options in while in the Market St/Civic Center area. I typically get the soup and salad combo, the dal soup is off the chain! The enchanted salad is also fantastic.
Love the ambiance with the waterfall and cool art. It's closes early evening, so it is really for lunch or early dinner. Overall an awesome vegetarian/vegan choice in the Bay Area.

Boston, MA

Red Lentil- I did not expect such a find in Watertown! Watertown is a suburb iust outside Boston near Cambridge/Harvard Sq. Red Lentil has a nice menu and the food was really, really good. While Boston has many great restaurants, it is not filled with a ton of veggie options and Red Lentil is one of my favorites. I've had brunch (awesome) and dinner/lunch there and all were great.
Quality food/juices, Relaxed, casual atmosphere and relatively inexpensive prices make this place a go to for veggie options in the Cambridge/Watertown area.

Why Juice?

Why drink fresh juice in the morning? I am not a doctor or a nutritionist but one thing I can tell you is that I simply feel better when I drink fresh juice. It gives me energy throughout the day and helps the whole digestion process in my body. I try to have a daily juice and I tend to keep my juice totally or at least primarily veggie to avoid sugar and sweet fruits. I like an intense tasting juice but to avoid to much bitterness, you can add carrots or apples. An example of one of my fave juices that I make with my Omega Vert juicer:

-Carrot, Tomato, Cucumber, Celery, Lemon, Garlic, Ginger and and sprinkle cayenne on top

Philadelphia, PA

FuelThis spot is actually located in a suburb of Philly. Ardmore PA, where we played at the Ardmore music Hall. Just down the block from the venue, I found this place Fuel.  It was a quick, healthy cafe. I like the casual order at the counter vibe. The prices are pretty good and there were alot of options on the menu. They had veggie juice and rice bowls, which looked great but I went with the fuel chopped salad which was just what I needed. Definitely recommend this place if your looking for a quick, casual, healthy meal.

**The venue, Ardmore Music Hall also had a good restaurant with a Mediterranean flare. The cook was accommodating to our dietary requests and the ambiance was cool.

Charlotte, NC

Fiction Kitchen-  Keeping it classy in Charlotte! Great vegan/vegetarian restaurant. Cool vibe and the servers were nice. The food was on the semi pricey side but the place was definitely quality. I think they list the local farms they get their produce from. I had the curry dish for $14, which was a good meal. My friend raved about the risotto style farro dish. The house salad looked great as well. Overall, it's a pretty hip spot. For sure worth checking out.

Petaluma, CA

Fruit In MotionGood juice/smoothie bar in downtown Petaluma, located right next to the theater/venue we were playing I wasn't crazy about the smoothie options but the juice I got was great and organic! Don't let the name fool you, they have veggie juice options as well. I ordered the Work Blends with no apple and extra ginger and it was awesome. $8 for 24 ounce isn't bad. They also have 16 ounce for $6. If your looking for a good veggie juice in Petaluma, this is the spot.

Fort Collins, CO

Tasty Harmony- Love this spot in Fort Collins. Tons of awesome vegan, gluten free and healthy options. Every dish that passed our table looked amazing. We shared the lettuce wraps which were pretty exceptional. I had a small salad and a daily bowl and both were great. So much good stuff on this menu, they had a raw Singapore noodle dish with kelp noodles! The ambiance in there is cool and our server was super friendly. All in all, this spot is not to be missed if you're in Fort Collins and looking for a cool spot with healthy eats.

Durango, CO

Himalayan Kitchen- Solid indian/himalayan restaurant with good vegan/vegetarian options in Durango. We really enjoyed our dishes and while they serve meat there is an entirely seperate vegetarian menu. Big Up! I had the Aloo Govi Tarkaari, a nepalese spicy vegetable dish and the the Katchumbar salad. Both were simple and tasty. Nice people there as well make this a good stop in Durango.

Durango, CO

Nature’s OasisWhat an awesome market here in Durango. Great juice bar/prepared foods section with salads, soups and many others items with vegan options. Glad I hit up that bulk section with organic options and raw honey in bulk! The prices here are reasonable and they had a bunch of items on sale. Also the staff was super friendly. This is a perfect stop if looking for an array healthy items while in Durango.

Workout- You got to love the beauty in Durango as well. We were there in the spring and it was absolutely awesome. I played tennis on some great public courts near the downtown area. Chilly in the morning but great to be outside once you work up a sweat and of course plenty of awesome running trails in the mountains
